VALSE WAND EXHIBITION
HAPPENINGText: Filip De Haes
‘Valse Wand’ (False Wall) exhibition is located in the Heilig Geesthuis (House of the Holy Ghost), which used to be an institute for poor relief. The building currently hosts Voorkamer VZW, an initiative which organises performances and exhibitions on a regular basis, since 1996.
Tim Ryckaert, Spray Paint The Walls, spray painted (negative version), 2009, by
Current group exhibition ‘Valse Wand’ features a range of international artists. They each present an artpiece dealing with the central theme: false walls. It must be said some artpieces fit in the theme very well, others make it more difficult to see the relevance.
Nils Nova, Zonder Titel, 2009
First artpiece shown is a sprayed poem by Tim Ryckaert. Continue to the large room which can be seen from the street. A wide squeezed panoramic picture of the room itself was placed against the opposite wall of the front windows. It’s made by Nils Nova (SV/CH).
Aam Solleveld, Untitled
From the inner courtyard you can see an artpiece by promising artist Aam Solleveld (NL) in the left sidebuilding. It appears to be a sort of minimalistic raytrace of a kitchen.
The exhibition features videowork of Kelly Chorpering (USA) and Erki De Vries/Anton Boon (BE) which I found too artiish. Some installations by other artists can be found at any nearby cabinet-maker if you ask me.
Entrance is free, which makes it worth a visit if you’re in the neighbourhood.
