ROKKO MEETS ART 2016
Mt. Rokko comes alive with artwork for two months. The event “Rokko Meets Art 2016“, which is held at the top of Mt. Rokko, Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture showcases the work of many different artists. This year’s event sees the work of over 40 different artists being showcased.

The event is scattered across different parts of Mt. Rokko including Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden, Rokko Country House and Rokko International Music Box Museum.

When you board the cable car you can see “Animal” which is part of a series by Atsuhiko Misawa. There you can see a model bear in the cable car. The work is part of a larger series of a different variety of different animals.

When you arrive at Rokko Sanjo Station one of the first things you come across is “Sights of Memories – Nihon Kankou Kinen Mon –” by Ken Tanimoto due to its size. This is a large installation piece which shows the many different pennants of tourists. These can be purchased as souvenirs to Mt. Rokko. Tanimoto has collected these over years, showing their memories and experiences visiting Rokko.

“Table of the irregularity” is a large Table by MORI TAIZO, constructed from papier mache. The table is very uneven and bumpy and can be seen to represent the mountain landscape.
