The underground theater masterpiece poster exhibition, “Japan Avant Garde” will be held at Granvista Gallery Sapporo from March 9th to April 11th. “underground theater” (Small Theater Movement) carried out an experimental stage in Japan in the 1960s-70s.

In this era, a poster that appeared as a “banner of a theater troupe” shaking the audience’s heart with a visual expression that brings synergistic effects to the stage has involved many leading artists who passed beyond the boundary of a performance announcement poster. it provoked the times and continues to shine even now.

This exhibition shows a number of masterpiece posters of the “underground theater” that were carefully selected from the “Contemporary Theater Poster Collection” of more than 20,000 posters owned by Poster Hari’s Company, and relevant precious items at that time. Related special products by Shuji Terayama and Tenjo Sajiki theater troupe, and exhibition artists (Tadanori Yokoo, Akira Uno, etc) will be sold at a limited number. A talk session and the reception will be held with Hiroyuki Sasami, producer of the company on March 9th.
