“Mr.Octopus playing with the bride” Ten-ei Abe, 2013, 600 x 450 mm

Ten-ei Abe’s exhibition “A La Carte” will be held at Cross Hotel Sapporo from July 2nd, as Machinaka Art X_edition vol.21 which has been held by the hotel and Clark Gallery + SHIFT. He is, at the forefront for more than 60 years, a Hokkaido-based contemporary artist who are committed to international exchange of art and culture.

He has been produced numerous works of three-dimensional sculptures with dynamic idea to overwhelm people at home and abroad. Without being a slave by the performance or evaluation, his new works continues the evolution of representation still now. From October 3rd to November 5th this year, he will hold a solo exhibition at the Heilongjiang Art Museum in Harbin City, China.

For this exhibition, focusing on his plane work that he produces also the three-dimensional as a representation work as thinking in the same way of plane, he will exhibit new works mainly that he has been pursued “various possibilities to express by planes”, with stimulated by the seasonal sky and the nature in an environment surrounded by Asarigawa the Otaru, Hokkaido where he moved to two years ago. The opening reception will be held from 19:00 on July 8th, at “Meet Lounge” on the 2nd floor of Cross Hotel Sapporo. No reservation and free admission.
