TIM BURTON EXHIBITION
HAPPENINGText: Carlos J. Gómez
A comprehensive retrospective of Tim Burton’s body of work is being displayed at the Museum Of Modern Art until April 26th. This exhibition comprises two different floors of the museum as well as screenings of his celebrated movies such as Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Mars Attacks!, Ed Wood, and Beetlejuice.
The show brings together over seven hundred examples of rarely or never-before-seen drawings, paintings, photographs, moving image works, concept art, storyboards, puppets, maquettes, costumes, and cinematic ephemera from these and other productions. I particularly enjoyed the drawings the most which were numerous, imaginative and witty.
Also on display are less known personal or commercial works that show the prolific talent of Burton as an artist, illustrator, photographer, and writer.
To complement the show, a collection of classic sci-fi films that inspired his creative vision under the theme Tim Burton and the Lurid Beauty of Monsters is being screened in parallel.
