ART WALL STICKER

THINGSText: Jeremie Cortial

Vincent Labaume’s approach of the problem is another story. “OK Deco”, his project, starts with the following question : does nature still have a place in our iconic environment? Today, from a decorative point of view, the vision of nature still provides the best visual pleasure. The interior design has always been inspired from flowers and from the forms of fruits. So the artist tries to give natural decoration its best form regarding today cultural situation.

For example, he works on adapting this idea to the synthetics advertising images and forms. The process of creation for this work is very important and close to today’s cultural environment. The first pattern is made by scraping a postcard, in order to obtain a Martian plant. The second pattern is also obtained by transforming an element of everyday’s consumption society. The basic material is a lemon-flavored yogurt. After eating it, the artist folded it so as to hide the brand “Danone Veloute”, obtaining a simple and new composition and a new color harmony. When it will be pasted on your walls, perhaps these patterns will revive the lost pleasure of green spaces.

Art Wall Sticker has the particularity to supply original works of famous contemporary artists at an affordable price, taking part in the public’s intimacy. Up to now, the main way of distribution of the products remains mail-orders on the Web or the catalog available during the events. The reason is the decision of AWS’s of remunerating directly the artists. All the sets are for sale at 230 Euro (28,000 Yen) except the kit of the artist Daniel Buren which had to be reedited, and it is now at the price of 460 Euros.

As for the TokyoDesigners Block 2002, AWS was presented for example in the shops Agnes b ., Aoyama Book Center, UN cafe and Idee Pacific. Next exhibition is scheduled at Magda-Danisz gallery in Paris from December the 7th. The exact contents remains unknown now.
