The solo exhibition, “House of Asaba △.” by one of the leading art directors in Japan and a founder of the Tokyo Type Directors Club (TDC), Katsumi Asaba will be held at the Granvista Gallery Sapporo from June 15th to August 1st.

Katsumi Asaba was born in Yokohama in 1940. After he studied at Kuwasawa Design School and Keinosuke Sato typography research institute, he had worked for LIGHT PUBLICITY and established Asaba Katsumi Design Room in 1975. He has produced numerous masterpieces of posters and commercials in advertising history in Japan, and won many prizes.

This exhibition was realized at the request of Shigeru Uchida before his passed away in the last November, and shows mainly 10 works entitled “ASABA’S COLLAGE” made of “typography” which Asaba has been working for over the years since the youth era.

The art exhibit entitled, “The Past, Present, Future of the Earth Letters Explorer”,as a Memorial Talk Session & Reception of Katsumi Asaba and Kudo “Wabi” Ryohei (art director) will be held on June 15th.
