The Shenzhen New Media Art Festival, which is the first of its kind in Mainland China – a biennale conceived to be an urban festival, with a focus on new media art, will be held from December 28th, 2014 to January 3rd, 2015. The city of Shenzhen is strong in both areas of high-tech industry and cultural industry, which provides such a new media art festival beneficial conditions to emerge.

It aims to establish a global artistic platform which closely combines the arts with technology as well as culture with industry, in this way to present the Chinese public the interactive, scientific, participative and entertaining characteristics of new media art.
 
The first Shenzhen New Media Art Festival invites 16 international individual media artists and art groups with works in all forms across various media, e.g. screen-based, game device art, kinetic installation, interactive installation and sound work, etc. These works represent the development of media art and its diversity, offering visitors the key into a regenerated exhibit space (which used to be an old glass factory) and the exciting experience created by technology and creativity.
