EXTRARAUM presents an exhibition, “HIGHWAY STAR” by Catalina Pabon and Frieder Wanner, which lets itself encircle contentwise with the terms fashion, popculture, and painting.

“Highway Star” is the title of a short film of Frieder Wanner. To the same named song from “Deep Purple” he sets up a motorrace all through the history of painting. It starts in the Middle Ages and leads over country roads in peaceful ancient portraits and the ice deserts of Kaspar David Friedrich into the modernity.

Catalina Pabón shows painting and designs, which follow in their picture contents partially the formalities of the traditional painting, in particular the romance, without following these in its meaning and its utopian content. For their landscapes and interiors are specific photos from different medial sources transferred into painting, are emphasized and attain in this way a revaluation.
