“Sunui’s Cancan Badge Exhibition” will be held from 13th April to 16th May at Granvista Gallery Sapporo. Sunui (means “plane sewing”) is a group who has produced bags and accessories made of materials they got during their traveling experiences, and held exhibitions in various places.
Sunui started in 2004 with the effort of its four founding members: Haruna Katahira, Yoko Shiraishi, Kyoko Tomizawa and Asako Negishi who graduated from Musashino Art University. They are also active in the fields of not only creation and selling one-of-a-kind bags and accessories, but also graphic, web, display design, stage decoration and so on.
“Cancan Badge” is masterpiece of sunui. They continue to make them even now while changing the material and shape from the original. In this exhibition, various badges which appeared in the work collection book “Cancan Batch” published last year will be on this exhibit, and their badges and accessories will also be sold. Also on April 13, Haruna Katahira and Kyoko Tomizawa from sunui will join a talk session & reception.
