Machinaka Art Cross Edition will present Wabi Sabi Solo Exhibition “Black Beauty – Typography and Calligraphy-” curated by SHIFT at Cross Hotel Sapporo from September 9th to November 30, 2011.

Since its opening in 2007, Cross Hotel Sapporo has been giving a series of art exhibitions named “ART X” at the ground floor entrance hall. This year in collaboration with SHIFT, the ART X will feature the Hokkaido-based artists.

The exhibition also consists of the very first edition of the Machinaka Art project, aiming to fill the city with art and to create friendly environment for citizens to familiarize with the art, with the participation of galleries, artists and shops.

“WABISABI” is a design unit, consisting of Kudo “WABI” Ryohei and Nakanishi “SABI” Kazusi. We formed it for our creative work in 1999. Their activities from advertising, Graphic, sculpture, motion-graphic, furthermore on interior. Wabi is working with energy as a bass player in his band “MUDDY FRANKENSTEIN”.

There will be sold some original goods. The exhibition will show Wabi Sabi’s works of a representative selection of typography “HORMON”, and “GUITAR” and “BONSAI” is series of calligraphy, and their newest works of calligraphy “HANAOSHI”.
