Design Festa, one of the biggest event in Asia where more than 8,500 artists participated from around the world, celebrated its 30th anniversary this fall. But its amazing not only because of the astonishing number of people joining the festival. From people who buy works for their own to people who seek out new talents and artbuyers, various people come to this event. To draw their attention, artists make their booths distinctive and give out their original fliers. The Design Festa Vol. 30 was held on the 24th and the 25th of October at Tokyo Big Sight.
It might be better to say "experience the Design Festa" rather than just "visit the Design Festa." They also perform live music and serve alcohol and world's traditional food. At some booths, you can enjoy plays, fashion shows, getting a massage, athletics , fortune telling and so on. If you feel tired, it'll be good to get a massage. If you have any worries, just try fortune telling. Booths of palmistry and color therapy were really popular and had been reserved fully.

The feature of this event is that everything is being free there. People are singing a song at a booth next to a booth exhibiting pictures and at another booth people are sitting like dummies as a part of installation. These unexpected happenings fascinate people.

Among numerous of booths of professional and amateur artists and companies, Lanterna attracted lots of people by their accessories that displayed on the white wall.

At their booth, you can pick up and see their goods in front of you that they usually sell on the Internet at the reasonable price. Talking with the designers directly is also an attractive thing to visit their booth.

It was Keiichi Tachikawa's booth that I stopped at and said to myself "Cute!" He said that this was the 8th time that he had his own booth at Design Festa. As you visit this event every year, you will find your favorite artists and buy their works. It is also interesting to see booth owners again who you've seen at this festa before.

Akira Takayanagi was doing live painting on the wall that was dividing the space into Regular Lighting Area and Dimmed Lighting Area. His huge live painting caught everyone's eyes. There were many booths where people performed live paintings. They seemed to spend their waiting time efficiently by working on their works at the same time.
It's probably impossible to visit all the booths in one day. Before you go, choosing which booths to visit isn't a bad idea, but why don't you go there without thinking about it and find your own way of enjoying this event? You must find something different whenever you come. You'll get many DMs and flyers by going for a round. How about making a scrap book of them? And when you feel get bored to see booths, it's your time to express your world as an exhibiter.
