GARDENS BY THE BAY

Singapore on its constant quest to transform itself to be relevant has pushed the boundaries of a city in a garden into something bigger and greener. Boasting 101 hectares of prime waterfront land, 3 distinctive gardens come together to form Gardens By the Bay in the heart of Marina Bay, Singapore’s latest extension to its city centre.

The largest of the 3 gardens, Bay South Gardens brings a refreshing vibrancy to Singapore’s horitculture scene. This colourful garden showcases an array of tropical and temperate horticulture presented in dynamic and immersive settings through its cooled conservatories, Supertrees, lakes and themed gardens. Making reference to its multi-racial roots in its themed gardens, the gardens is also host to numerous eateries, making it a food haven in a lush green setting.

Crossing over from the Marina Barrage, visitors are invited to interact with the water at the interim Bay East Gardens. Capitalising on its proximity to the water and its linear form, the envisioned Gardens will feature themed water gardens such as rice paddies, water gardens pulling streams and water bodies inland, while sharing and educating on the fragile relationship between plants and water within an eco-system.

Bay Central, the last of the 3 gardens cites its urban context as a relief to the concrete city. Envisioned with a 3km promenade to provide sweeping views, it will complete a green loop between all three gardens.

The rustic feel of the lawn with mature trees, spices and orchids are still available at the Botanical Gardens. But to savor the new force of nature, one has to visit Gardens by the Bay.
