RENE LEZARD FLAGSHIP STORE

PLACEText: Daniel Goddemeyer

Organized by the Hamburg-based agency Luna Media on September 5th, the opening party of the new Rene Lezard Flagship store took place right in the heart of our city. Having the theme of “Relax – harmony of contrasts” the main theme of the night were the battles between contrary musicians, writers, bartenders and cooks. Opening the doors at 7:30pm, there was quite an illustrous crowd coming in right on time to enjoy the first dj set by Alessandro du Lac from Taverne du Lac, a housy record label that is known for their laid back and relaxed sound. After the guests were welcomed by the host of the night, the first battle began at 9pm.

By serving finger food, the two cooks Monsieur Cuire and Herr Koch were bringing in the dishes that they had prepared for winning over the crowd. Half an hour later the poetry battle between the famous literature critic Helmut Karasek and the offspring writer Rebecca Casati began in the front lobby of the store. While it was getting dark outside, the lights were turned out and Leigh Haas from Flora & Fauna visions turned on the visuals that the Berlin hipster girls had prepared for the night. About twenty projectors illuminated the whole store at once. Basing their visual work on a lot of typographic texts and elements, this was exactly the atmosphere that the two poets needed to take in the crowd.

After half an hour of excellent reading enjoyed by about 500 guests listening, the cooks lit up their fire again for the second menu of the most delcious tasting dishes ever made. While enjoying the food and the music spun by Alessandro, the barkeepers got ready for their battle of cocktails and longdrinks which they mixed with artistic perfection. While waiting for your drink, you almost forgot what you were waiting for when looking at their mixing skills. After the gig by Taverne Du Lac, at midnight another snack was served and the music continued. Leaving the party at shortly after 12 due to tiredness and the party the night before, we experienced a great evening that met everybodyユs demands and stayed in our memories as a great night of music, visuals and poetry.
