Ui, in the Summer of 1992, has visited to Nibutani, in Hokkaido. It was conformable for her to live together with weaving Ainu patterns and to shoot often. On the other hand, as thinking about the history that a large amount of migrant named “pioneer” has invaded in Hokkaido since the Meiji era, she could not help being aware “I am a Japanese” who had invaded.
For this exhibition, while shooting their lives in Tokyo and Nibutani with snuggled, she will exhibit photos printed the lifesize figures of Ainu people who are living kingly today including Ainu culture and their reverence to Kamui (God) which she feels.
