Guillaume Salmon is PR for colette since more than 5 years, enjoying to be in the middle of different culture and microcosms… From the west coast of France, he is a Parisian since ever and for ever for one reason, because Paris is Magic!!! He will be proud and glad to relate to the colette way of life and here, lists his favorite finds from colette month after month.

Sounds Good from August 3rd to 29th
Rock, Pop, Rap, Folk, Hip-Hop, Soul, Tube, Variety, Classic, drawings or pictures, on CD or iPod, on the web or in your head, live or at home, in the subway or at work, everywhere, in every way… colette celebrates music with two exhibitions: WITHOUT YOU BABY, THERE AIN’T NO US by Comenius Roethlisberger and Admir Jahic (drawings), WHITE EYE BLACK HEART by xavier2nauw (prints), and our SOUND SHOP featuring a selection of speakers and headphones.

Swiss artists Comenius Roethlisberger and Admir Jahic introduced for the first time their project “Without you baby, there is ain’t no us” during Miami Scope Art Fair and the success was immediate. Their naïve, simple drawings of favorite YouTube music videos are very affordable and will invariably touch your sense of nostalgia, if not your sense of humor, too.

Bootsy Collins’s smile, Prince’s silhouette, Snoop Dogg’s stoned gaze, Rakim’s rage, Dr Dre’s attitude… These are just some of the many pictures captured by Xavier de Nauw over the past 20 years. This first solo exhibition of black-and-white portraits compose an anthropology of contemporary music, marked by the feeling of reserve that defines this Parisian’s eye, and his relationship to these noteworthy black contemporary artists. A catalogue is available and a Stüssy limited edition t-shirt will be offered with purchase of a photograph.

“Trompe l’oeil”
What do Comme Des Garçons, Mary Katrantzou, Viktor & Rolf, Hussein Chalayan, and Inside Out have in common? Of course talent, but also the ‘trompe l’oeil’ effect that they use and abuse this season for our pleasure. With a plethora of options for every taste, from which we can find perfume bottle dresses, concrete-faceted jackets, prints with zippers, studs, and tears, 3D drapings, and even shoes with toes. Ersatz items more real than what you find in nature, sure to bring humor and cheer up the collections of this winter.

Design
The already famous compact digital Leica C-Lux 3 turns into a super collector’s item with this illustrated version by artist André for colette (limited edition of 30). Thank you Leica, and thank you Mr. A !!!

Coming in September
From August 31st to September 26th, Todd James (a.k.a REAS) exhibition. This famous international artist started to shoot in 1982 on the subways and trains of New York. He is a real post-graffiti artist — part of a generation which started as street culture and vandal artists — and became a pop-art artist recognized by the most important contemporary art galleries. His Stüssy collection is already at colette.
Before the long-awaited launch of the ‘Uniqlo Paris Opéra’ flagship in autumn 2009, the Japanese brand makes a further step towards the center of Paris with a shop-in-shop in colette, full of exclusive items, from August 31st to September 26th.
Save the date for Saturday, September 5th, when Scott Schuman, a.k.a. The Sartorialist, will sign his first book, published by Penguin, at colette.
