LOMO WONDERLAND

HAPPENINGText: Fann ZJ

With rising interest and popularity of the Lomo camera, it is no wonder that Lomographers from various countries are coming together to exchange their snap shots of their Lomographic world.

LOMO WONDERLAND, a collection of Lomographic images from six Asian countries brings across a spectrum of Asian viewpoints. Lomographers from Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Korea reveal cultural backgrounds and different approaches through their images.

Presented as curtain walls that span forty-two meters, the combination of colours and form generate interest from passersby. Located in an underpass linking the new arts hub Esplanade to a shopping centre, throngs of passersby pause every now and then to take a closer look at the tiled images when an image catches their eyes. Tiled in different manners, passersby were left to make out the images based on their own imagination.

With an interesting array of subject matters ranging from nature, animals, social events to artwork, the Lomo captures the spontaneity of life and it’s events in all it’s beauty. More importantly, it brings people together, regardless of nationality. Singapore is not the only stop for this wonderland, it tours across the participating countries. Truly a wonderland of exchange.
