The “Sculpture Projects Münster” is the project with the theme of “Relationship between public spaces and art works” which has been held once in 10 years since 1977 at Münster in the northwestern part of Germany. The 5th projects will be held from June 10th to October 1st this year.

Participating artists gathering from various countries stay in Münster in advance, investigate the area and residents, then present their art works and the ideas for the public space where it will be set up. In these projects, they show their works that were produced while they stay there.

Two artists, Ei Arakawa and Koki Tanaka was announced to participate in this event from Japan a few months ago. Ei Arakawa is a performing artist based in New York, and performs in collaboration with various people, and Koki Tanaka creates artworks which organizes events and group activities, and their recording.

In 2017, three large-scale international art exhibitions will be held, the “documenta” once every five years in Germany, the “Sculpture Projects Münster”, and “Venetia Biennale” once every two years in Italy.
