KUMIKO HAYASHI “TO SEED”
NEWSText: Aya Shomura
From March 10th to April 19th, a glass artist, Kumiko Hayashi’s exhibition “To seed” will be held at Granvista Gallery Sapporo. After her independence, she met a glass craft technique “cold work” and has been painted in a state in which the glass is cold with using pigment.
Because her glasses are painted single point manually one by one, there is nothing of the same design as one. These fascinate fans with its Characteristic patterns, clarity inherent in the glass and the beauty of the shadow woven by its design, so she has been held exhibitions also in USA, London and Taiwan, not only Japan.
This exhibition, including her glass works, she will show her engravings, and bags and umbrellas printed original textiles by hand. And on March 10th, as the opening ceremony, she talks with Kyoko Wainai, a designer. You must be attracted to number of works that mimic the natural appearances and the “beauty of the wet cloth in the water” which she wanted to express since her school days.
