A solo exhibition of Yoshitaka Nanjo will be held at GALLERY TAGA2 from June 8 to July 3. Yoshitaka Nanjo actually visits the places he chooses to depict, collecting soil on the spot and using it as a kind of paint to create his works.

In this upcoming exhibition, he attempts to visualize “time” as an added element to works based on the religious outlook, customs, and scenery of Japan, from the past to the present day. Placing the current landscape side by side with images of the same place evoked by the narratives in novels and films, he reconstructs a landscape in which time visibly connects the two.

Through the overlay of the world portrayed in story with the actual landscape, he tries to visualize time, which ceaselessly continues to change the world. We will exhibit works that were produced during his stay in Kyoto from autumn 2016.
