POSTCARD TEAS

PLACEText: Aron Morel

Tucked into a side street of Mayfair, Postcard Teas is a haven away from the bustle of the West-end.

Postcard Teas

Harmoniously arranged with an elegant minimalism, the ambiance is serene and amicable to say the least. Sitting at a quaint single large table with ten or so stools, one can sample an extensive range of bespoke teas.

The shelves modestly exhibit an exquisite range of far eastern tea sets and teas, all selected and displayed with a careful eye for balance.

Owner, Timothy d’Offay, a humble and genuine host, seems captivated by a passion for his teas. In 2000 his passion led him to start East Tea’s in Borough Market, with Alex Fraser, selling specialist green and oolong teas imported direct from the tea producers and experts in east Asia. Postcard Tea’s his next platform for teas, works with estates in the North East of India and the South of Sri Lanka. Each tea, carefully chosen and overlooked by Timothy, brings some of the worlds best black teas to London.

There is no need for milk here, as the subtleness of the infused flavors have a delicate and perfumed aroma, reflecting the serene simplicity of the setting.

In spite of the bespoke environment and selection of teas, Postcard Teas is unusually modestly priced for what it makes out to be, with teas at £1.50. There are also a selection cakes and other nibbles to compliment one’s infusion.

Postcard Teas

There are also a range of packaged teas, including a selection on which you can white a postcard message, and mail to friends or loved ones anywhere in the world from the shops postbox!

Postcard teas is found in a beautiful Georgian building at 9 Dering Street, a nip away from Oxford Street and New Bond Street.
