OFFF FESTIVAL 2003

HAPPENINGText: Maria Paz Pedreros, Daniel Ramirez

Daedelus (LA) remembered us to the 70’s, strong eclectical cool music, and cool people, too. “Caught between myth and reality, past and future, Daedelus produces sonic mazes from a studio deep within Santa Monica, California. Crafting waxen wings from his background in live instruments, a young Daedelus began noodling bass clarinet notes, and soon graduated into the covenant of double-bass” – from Plugresearch.

DAEDELUS presentation

On the beginning of the festival, Platform 01 was very quiet while walking around OFFF but as they came up the stage showed us their work for BD4D we were all impressed of their quality and emotions behind their artistic piece. Check out his new site soon.

Here is a comment from Aimee Campos the Executive Producer of the Festival: “The best is the presence and interaction of all the artist designers and musicians, the environment that is generated by their presence, the contact and the exchange, maybe just because the festival is not so serious and everyone gets out of the feeling to conceive the conferences as a passive way for learning.

This year’s spirit has been very similar to the last editions of the OFFF, the difference has been the introduction of the music. We have potenciate this side without neglecting the design and digital creation, that is our motive, but we wanted to join them cause we think they must go, if not together, at least very close to each other. We have filled this version with artists from the world of experimental audio to generate this mutual feeding, I think it’s wonderful and it has been so far, they have meet each other and we can proudly say that we have reached the same quality that we wanted about design and digital creation in music also.”

C404 – Outstanding.

System, Jesper Skaaning, Andres Remmer and Thomas Knak are the people from Future3 came to Barcelona with a big will to participate in this OFFF festival. Thomas (Opiate, co-producer of Bjork’s “Vespertine” and responsible for the Label Hobby Industries) already knew the city, but for Jesper and his girlfriend was their first time in Barcelona. Andres wasn’t able to come but Thomas and Jesper put their laptops on stage.
