The Festival Nemo #6 looked like a first edition. Originally a independent movies festival, it radically evolved to a 100% experimental images festival based on its artistic director Gilles Alvarez’s formula “Beyond cinema through innovative ways”.

It has took place from March 9th to 14th in the Forum des Images and every spaces were busy with projections, performances and interactive installations.

The radical choice of “experimental images” – in the larger meaning including music video, video games, interactive cinema etc) – brought together a huge crowd of curious and amateurs of discoveries, different and innovative cinemas, digital and contemporary art, vjing, and cultural entertainment. The festival simply offered anyone to look into the future of motion pictures.

440 movies and artworks were shown to 26 000 spectators. Retropectives of H5 and Pleix have confirmed the high quality of computer generated motion graphic and video. 5 international festivals were officially invited to screen their selections (Onedotzero, Backup Festival, Bitfilm-Festival, Curtas Vila Do Conde, Ovarvideo).

This aspect “Festival of festivals” will be developed in the next issues with the involvement of other innovative festivals. The selection of “Panorama International” and Music Video section will be screened in these festivals and in numerous places all over France.
