Every important capital in the world presents iconic benchmarks against which all other cities can be seen. Generally, global cities export intrinsic values whether it is modern culture or heritage. The Spritmuseum is one of those places in Stockholm which endures Scandinavian-Swedish culture, and heritage. スピリットミュージアムにはスウェーデンに本社を置くアブソルートのアブソルート・アート・コレクションがあり、1985年から2004年の間に制作された現代アートの約850点と、アンディ・ウォーホル、キース・ヘリング、ケニー・シャーフ、ダミアン・ハースト、トム・フォード、ルイーズ・ブルジョワを含む600人以上のアーティストがリストに名を連ねる。このコレクションは、ブランドがアートとマーケティングを組み合わせた集大成で、このスマートな方法によって、広告の一部として生まれた作品が芸術作品に変わっていったのだ。これを自慢できるブランドはそう多くはないはずだ。
さらに、博物館は他にはないような料理を提供するために多大な努力をし、2014年にはスウェーデンのシェフ、ペッター・ニルソンがチームに加わり、国際的で革新的なレストランを展開している。レストランでは、非常に厳しい廃棄ゼロ政策を行ったり、主に菜食主義者のための、地産地消の食材で料理を提供している。
スピリットミュージアムは、市内中心部から徒歩圏内にあり、容易に見つけることができる。春や夏にストックホルムを訪れるなら、トラムやバス、タクシー以外にも、街からユールゴーデン島につながる橋を歩いて向かうのもいいだろう。この島はスウェーデン王室の遺産として保護された自然や公園に囲まれた博物館や文化的な名所が数多くあり、観光客のみならず地元の人も多く訪れる場所だ。博物館の名称は1967年に設立されたワイン・アンド・スピリットの歴史博物館からきている。2008年にアブソルート・ウォッカがペルノ・リカールに売却されたとき、アブソルート・アート・コレクションは再発見されたが、文化的、歴史的遺産であるという理由でフランスの会社に渡ることはなく、コレクションは博物館に寄贈された。
博物館は独立した組織として運営され、アブソルート・アート・コレクションの所属アーティストの個展が開催されている。国際的な芸術家に限らず、スウェーデンの代表的なアーティストの作品も、ここスピリットミュージアムで見ることができる。

Translation: Satsuki MiyanishiSpritmuseum holds The Absolut Art collection, about 850 pieces of contemporary art created between 1985-2004, including the work of the likes of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Damien Hirst, Tom Ford and Louise Bourgeois. Up to 600 artists complete the list. Arguably this collection is the result of one of the smartest ways any brand has combined Art and Marketing. Furthermore, what originated as a piece of advertising turned into a piece of art. This is something not too many brands could boast about.
In addition, the museum put a great effort into achieving a competitive culinary offer. Swedish chef Petter Nilsson joined the team in 2014 and placed the restaurant on the international Avant-Garde scene. The restaurant holds a very strict Zero Waste policy, mostly vegetarian, and only locally sourced ingredients. In other words, this is not the stereotyped restaurant or bar integrated within a museum but it deserves its own visit. As a matter of fact, this sort of metamorphosis from institutional food into more inspirational and creative food is a direction that most acclaimed museums worldwide have been working during the past years.
To find the museum is quite easy, walking distance from the city center. If you happen to visit Stockholm during spring or summertime, this is a perfect walk towards the bridge that connects the city to the island of Djurgården. Otherwise tram, bus or a short cab ride to the entrance will do the job. This island is patrimony of the Swedish Royal Crown since several centuries ago, and it is well-known for its offer of museums and cultural attractions, everything surrounds by parks and nature. Hence it is common to find tourists and locals mingling together. The museum is located in a former warehouse where the King of Sweden used to house his boats. In fact, the former name of the museum was the Historic Museum of Wine and Spirit, founded in 1967. When Absolut Vodka was sold to Pernod Ricard in 2008, the Absolut Art Collection was rediscovered and since it is a cultural and historic heritage, it could not be sold to the French company. Thus the solution was to donate the collection to the museum.
The museum operates as an independent organization where the artists represented in the Absolut Art Collection are invited to do a solo-exhibition. Not only international artists, but also exemplary Swedish artists, are represented in the art collection at the Spritmuseum.
