Jérôme Bel always directs his political and critical gaze onto the medium of dance itself. His foremost work is “The Show Must Go On”, now brought to Japan in a localized version co-presented by the Saitama Arts Theater.

Continually filled with famous pop songs like “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie that everyone is guaranteed to know, the performers come from a range of genders, backgrounds and ages. Already staged in over 50 cities worldwide and winner of a bessie Award in New York in 2005, this groundbreaking work asks the audience ironic questions about what dance is or should be.
