PUNCH presents Oh, domain, large-scale color photographs by Carey Denniston. Drawing from Guy Debord’s 1954 writings in the field of psychogeography, the photographs reveal the dynamic relationship between resident and residence, and the penetrating effects of space on the psyche. Here, Denniston sides with the Situationists’ theory, that our cultural and physical influences create a subconscious undertow, wherein we are driven into a formulated pattern of behavior. In Oh, domain, we see the perspective of the resident responding to such restrictions – at times yielding, and at other times, with force.
