I am a northerner but I have no head for snow. Still wish snow in Christmas season. It is a pleasant sight to see someone walking with a flower gift in powder snow. Let me introduce a flower shop recently opened near Susukino, a centre of Sapporo.
"HUG FLOWER'S AKIRA NAKAMURA" opened last May. It is located on ground level with charming flowers in window display in a commercial bldg. close to Susukino. A stylish shop design catches your eyes right after the entrance. That is made by a local design office, Atelier Temma.
They have set out plans for restaurant, hospital, hotel, and so on. Each and every is well-known for high-design, deliberate, stylish plan. Lately, they published a book of their work that was a talk of the town.
Their taste is turned to advantage here this shop "HUG FLOWER'S AKIRA NAKAMURA". A rectangular compact space with the counter turns out to be elegant atmosphere. The above book is introduced in the shop as well.
The owner, Akira Nakamura has been in flower business for 18 years. He was hoping to have a career something with great skill in the future during his school days. Some part-time job led him to work for a flower shop in Sapporo. Nothing special inducement to get in flower business at this point.
However, the more keep working, the more interested in flower arrangement that is "there is the one and only". He has been there for 10 years and sometimes participated competitions. To pursue his potentiality, he found a job in Tokyo. While active as a florist he was offered this shop by the owner of company. Since he was thinking to go back to Sapporo someday, it was a good timing for him.
All flower display at shop is made by Mr. Nakamura himself. He explains they are very cool and "manly" but most of attracted visitors are women. They are mostly form late 20's to 30's. Now one of his challenge is to make a comfortable store for early 20's young generation, He says. If requested, he is willing to help flower selection.
Let's take a look at the shop. You will be surprised to see dozens of roses in the back. Mr. Nakamura features especially roses because of its profound fasciation. There are more than ten kinds of roses anytime. He is particular about a source and he stocks best beautiful ones that last long with the times. A sources of rose stretches over the world, and there are more than thousands of varieties. Hokkaido is also one of them.
Another thing that fascinates you is a flower vase which Mr. Nakamura picked up in Holland. These rare flower vases are used for window display, besides that, wrapping materials are also from Holland.
Would you care to pick up some flowers on the way to home for gift or for yourself in 2008? A life with flower on the spur of the moment. "HUG FLOWER'S AKIRA NAKAMURA" is open until 10 for you as such.
