The joint exhibition of Ryu Okubo and Kenichi Miyazawa (magma), “GRANDMOTHER” will open from November 19th – December 7th, 2016 at TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS.
Ryu Okubo creates drawings, paintings, and animation works. One of the artist’s duo “magma”, Kenichi Miyazawa specializes in three-dimensional representation.
In this exhibition, these two artists who have known each other through some common hobbies for some time, exhibit paintings and three-dimensional works together. They are created by sharing images inspired by day-to-day themes. Motifs such as “a flower vase on the desk”, started from their conversation. Like, one of the artist’s observation, question and suggestion to another artist, “There are motifs and themes that have been used many times already in the world. What will happen if we focus on these things?”
Not only exhibited works, some original items like toy figures that has “a flower base” motif will be sold. The opening reception on the first day and related events are supposed to be held.
