TEAMLAB PHENOMENA ABU DHABI

A second major room is Levitation Void; you enter a red room with a sculptural presence in the form of a gigantic globe that appears to float freely in mid-air, neither suspended nor self-propelled. Untethered to the floor or ceiling, it drifts, rises, and sinks within the space, occasionally falling — only to slowly lift itself again, as if restoring its own equilibrium. Formed by a unique environmental phenomenon, the work generates an invisible order of energy at the center of the room, giving rise to what could be described as a “High Order Sculpture.” Inseparable from its surroundings, the artwork shifts with the environment itself, transcending conventional ideas of mass and objecthood to exist in a state of perpetual, self-sustaining levitation.

Next, in a darkened cupola, the floor is a terrain of soft cushions designed for total surrender to the spectacle of four different light projection shows above. Visitors lie back to witness an extraordinary laser display where light is manipulated into three-dimensional forms that appear almost solid in the void. The technical precision is staggering, utilizing a vast array of lasers to project shifting, harmonious shapes that seem to defy the laws of physics. As these luminous worlds drift and evolve, the experience becomes truly transportive; it is easy to lose track of time as the light appears to exert a physical pull, drawing you into its center. This immersive sanctuary showcases a seamless fusion of high-end technology and sensory art, redefining the boundary between the viewer and the medium.

December 2025 saw the addition of Megaliths in the Roots Garden, a space where digital screens merge with natural trees whose roots hang freely in mid-air. Nurtured by an environment that allows them to grow “between worlds,” these trees are surrounded by rising megaliths that create a striking dialogue between nature and structure. This narrative of resilience continues in Massless Suns and Dark Suns, where light becomes an intangible medium for “cognitive sculpture.” Just as the roots downstairs defy expectations, these artworks exist primarily in the viewer’s perception. Visitors interact with a sea of radiant globes to shape a dynamic cascade of light, moving through a continuum where nature, structure, and perception converge to redefine the boundaries of art.

In one of the exhibition’s most engaging spaces, visitors encounter Graffiti Nature and Beating Earth. Inside the workshop room, you are invited to colour animals, butterflies, crocodiles, geckos, serpents, or flowers with crayons, your drawings reflecting different habitats, from deserts to lush ecosystems. Once scanned by the teamLab assistants, each artwork instantly comes to life as a projection, exactly as you created it. Step into the scene and your creature bursts into colour, regenerating moments later and encouraging playful interaction. Draw a creature or a droplet and watch it join a shared ecosystem, where forms grow, multiply, or disappear, merging into living landscapes of flowing waterfalls and shifting worlds shaped by collective presence.

Beyond its immersive exhibitions, teamLab Phenomena also offers the serene Lamp Tea House, serving delicate Japanese pastries and beverages beneath the fluid curves of the building’s facade, as well as a boutique where visitors can take a piece of the experience home. More than a museum, teamLab Phenomena is a fully sensory — and philosophical — journey equally adapted for adults and children where art, technology, and human presence merge into this fun and one-of-a-kind adventure.
