Beyond Shibuya, the festival’s creative energy radiates outward. At TIERS GALLERY, four young design units, including HaKU Design Studio, Kaining He, TOG (Saaya Harue & Kaito Hayashi), and Tatsuro Shoji, redefine the boundaries between industrial production and craft, exploring themes of time, materiality, and transformation. AXIS BUILDING in Roppongi hosts several major exhibitions, including siro exhibition 02: It Turns, where fourteen creators reinterpret the concept of “turning”; Ambientech Gallery presented ““Synesthesia”, a light installation that combines music, scent, and lighting, for launching the new product Barcarolle. And illumination; and VERCE presents Discarded, Discovered, reconfiguring waste materials into objects of meditative beauty. Bang & Olufsen celebrates its centenary with the opulent Beolab 90 Alchemy Edition, featuring 24-carat gold details, while GRANDIR Inc. + Yuzo Kosaka, Yushi Tanaka, Yoshiki Ichikawa, Ayaka Hagiya, Hiromi Sato’s Jikou no Ma | SEN-AN installation reimagines the Japanese tea room by LGS materials as a space for spiritual and sensory renewal.

In Aoyama, NII, ITOKI Corporation’s new furniture brand, holds a special exhibition, called “THE STAGE by NII”, its first collection created with Michele De Lucchi’s AMDL CIRCLE, Todd Bracher, Rodolfo Agrella, and Jun Aizaki/CRÈME, transforming the office into a theater of creativity. Nearby, the first Tokyo flagship store of Edra, “Spazio Edra,” hosted an executive talk event titled “The Art of Elegance – The Aesthetics of Elegance,” inviting Edra creator Jacopo Foggini, who has been appointed as Italy’s “Ambassador of Design,” for a discussion centered on light, form, and luxury. Meanwhile, Chiiil with Karimoku, a collaboration between Hitachi Global Life Solutions and Karimoku Furniture, merges technology and warmth in lifestyle design, while DAFT about DRAFT introduces playful, personalized furniture by architect Taiju Yamashita, celebrating individuality in design.

Among the many highlights of DESIGNART TOKYO 2025, several exhibitions and collaborations stand out for their boldness, innovation, and emotional resonance. At Museum Tower Kyobashi, the pioneering collective Dumb Type presents WINDOWS, a powerful meditation on perception and connection. Composed of live images streamed from cameras around the world, the work merges countless distant landscapes into a single, fluid “window,” inviting viewers to reflect on the act of seeing in the digital age. As Dumb Type’s first public art installation, it transforms the lobby space into a site of quiet contemplation, blurring the boundary between private interior and shared global vision. In Ginza, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès unveils Metal: Commemorative Exhibition for the Publication of “Savoir-Faire: Metal”, a group show celebrating the upcoming book Savoir & Faire: KINZOKU, le métal. The exhibition probes the dual nature of metal, its strength and delicacy, its symbolism and sensuality, through works that explore how this material bridges craftsmanship, culture, and philosophy. The Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo stages Andy Warhol – Serial Portraits, a rare selection of the artist’s iconic and lesser-known works, tracing his lifelong fascination with repetition, celebrity, and the self-image as both mask and mirror.
