Following 2017, Gifu Prefecture host “Art Award IN THE CUBE 2020” with the aim of discovering and fostering new creative talent will be held at The Museum of Fine Arts, Gifu and Gifu Prefectural Library.

The theme of this year is “Kioku no Yukue” (Where Our Memories Go).
Seven judges who are at the forefront of their respective fields have selected 18 works from the 710 submissions by artists in Japan and oversea, without restrictions on age or genre.
Artists will be able to use a cubical space that 4.8m wide, 4.8m deep, and 3.6m tall to express themselves at the event sites.

Judges are Toshikatsu Endo (Sculptor), Takao Kawaguchi (Dancer / Performer), Motoaki Shinohara (Poet / Art Critic / Director of Takamatsu Art Museum), Tadasu Takamine (Artist / Professor at Akita University of Art), Shinichi Fukuoka (Biologist / Professor at Aoyama Gakuin University), Terunobu Fujimori (Architect / Director of the Edo-Tokyo Museum), Kyoko Murase (Painter / Professor at Tama Art University)
