Peter Funch’s first exhibition in France “Babel Tales” is held at colette untl November 27th. Babel Tales Addendum marks both the end and beginning of the work of photographer Peter Funch. After 4 long years in the streets of New York, he brought together 41 monumental panoramics. Each one is composed of thousands of frozen moments, taken over a period of several weeks. By photographing the same exact position, Funch can superimpose images creating a fictional work, yet one that is based on documentary photography.
The title, Babel Tales, is a reference to the story of the “Babel Tower”, and it also pays homage to the writer Paul Auster and his New Yorker stories “City of Glass and Auggie Wrenʼs Christmas Story”. In conjunction with the exhibition a limited edition book containing the complete Babel Tales series is available. Also, Peter Funch will be at colette, November 18th between 18:00 to 20:00 for signing.
