“Super Container Exhibition” used containers for freight and took viewers to the independent spaces. A camera captured viewers’ face and Kumadori which is a traditional makeup for Kabuki performance was synthesized with their facial images. Then, they were projected on a huge face-shaped object as a motion image through projection mapping. It was an interactive exhibition.

“THE DAY LIVE” Supported by J-WAVE 81.3@TDW

Outside of the tent, there’s a music event “THE DAY LIVE Supported by J-WAVE 81.3@TDW” in cooperation with a platform of Japanese music “J-WAVE 81.3FM.” In addition to there being live concert of musicians, their singing voices and music produced and worked as the background music for the exhibitions.

“THE NIGHT PARTY” Supported by RINGO Music Festival@TDW

In the evening, at “RINGO Music Festival Tent,” a showcase event of film and music “THE NIGHT PARTY Supported by RINGO Music Festival” by rising artists, VJ, and producing teams was held. “RINGO Music Festival” is a popular music festival in Matsumoto-city, Nagano, and an event for regional revitalization, being conducted at many places of Japan.

The event was produced by “DJ Sleeper” a host of “RINGO Music Festival,” a warm-up bar at Dohgenzaka, Shibuya, “Shibuya Oiran & OIRAN MUSIC,” and “SUMMIT” where SIMI LAB belongs to. It was not only for music fans but also for more diverse generations.

This year, about 600 pieces were exhibited and each space was filled with enthusiasm and excitement from the latest creators and artists. The main feature of TOKYO DESIGN WEEK is to close the distance between the artists and the audience. In fact, they enjoyed talking in the event spaces. Design, art, music, and fashion connect people to people as media. It was a valuable opportunity to realize one of the roles for creative activities and works which can be easily dismissed in daily life.
