Rodarte
Kate and Laura Mulleavy are the Pasadena-native sisters behind the label Rodarte. To celebrate their 10th collection for the Fall/Winter ‘09 season, Rodarte will take over colette’s 2nd floor temporary retail space and gallery to bring a bit of Los Angeles to Paris, from October 5th to November 7th. From epic horror films to musical choices and favorite books (in collaboration with Dashwood books), the store will give visitors a unique opportunity to discover Rodarte’s inspiration and creative process. The shop-in-shop will of course feature the Fall/Winter ‘09 Rodarte collection, plus the famous thigh-high boots of Nicholas Kirkwood, the recent Opening Ceremony collaboration, designs by friends of Rodarte like David Shrigley, Miranda July, Mike Mills, and Rebekah Miles, as well as colette exclusives such as “I hate / I love Rodarte” tee-shirts and sweats, notebooks and badges with adorable dog sketches drawn by the sisters, and marbled Repettos.
Kate and Laura will also curate an exhibition of artists who reveal the nostalgic qualities apparent in pop culture. The artists featured in the gallery include: Mari Eastman, Kim Gordon, Alexandra Grant, Elliott Hundley, Karen Kliminik, Ari Marcopoulos, Raymond Pettibon, Autumn de Wilde

CD SomethingALaMode (SALM)
SALM was born after years of development in the minds of Thomas, the violinist, recognized for his collaborations in contemporary art, and Yannick, the cellist, first prize laureate of the National School of Music. The goal was to leave the beaten paths of music and melt their passions into one; to create emotion through fragile strings, or the pure sound of a synthesizer. The outcome? A “string-electro” first album dexterously mixing flashy and baroque violins, lofty soul, heady pop bubbles, pent-up wrath; a hybrid both deeply melodious and radically electronic – a daring fusion of universes which have long been on a quest for each other and which thanks to SALM finally prove to be a match made in heaven. One month ahead of its official release, a limited “special edition for colette” version of SALM’s first album, including an exclusive bonus track, will be available only at colette starting September 30th

Piper Heidsieck
The fabulous shoe-maker Christian Louboutin relaunches a famous ritual from the 1880’s, symbolic of a Europe that lived without limits: to drink out of a woman’s stiletto. Of course, the bottom of the bottle is red, like the iconic soles. Set available at colette from October 26th.
