Okkervil River

The last day couldn’t start better than having the Californian band Okkervil River with their enthusiastic pop rock. At the Primavera, the band lead by Will Sheff presented songs from their 3 albums including some cover songs.

Devastations

Right after at the ATP stage the Australians Devastations explored the darkest and melancholic side of rock. The band presented their latest release “Yes, U” as powerfull and emotive than the other two earlier albums.

Stephen Malkmus

It was really exciting to see once again Stephen Malkmus (former Pavemet) together with his new band The Jiks. He will always remind us the great times he gave us with Pavement, and it is really great to see that he continues rocking nowadays with his new projects.

Talking about Rock and rocking, the veteran trio formed by J. Mascis, Lou barlow and Muph shows why they are one of the most influential North American Indie Rock band. The concert was amazing, J. Mascis playing speedy distortion surrounded by a Marshall (Amplifier) mountain. The band that just reunited a few years ago after almost 10 years, continues being a refence in the independent rock scene.

Morente Omega with Lagartija Nick

To change completely the tone, the Rockdelux stage presented one of the most incredible fusion of styles. The show of Morente Omega with Lagartija Nick. Morente is no other than the Flamenco big figure Enrique Morente playing together with the metal band from Granada Lagartija Nick. It was sensational to see how the Flamenco roots, with dancers, guitarist and voices get together with the powerfull sound of a guitar, bass and drum from a Rock band.

Tindersticks

After the Flamenco-Rock combo, the time was for another cult band. “The Hungry Saw” a new album recorded after many years away from the recording studio was the excuse to bring to Primavera the beautiful dramatism from the Nottingham band Tindersticks.

Shellac

Another powerfull concert was the one presented at the ATP stage by the band lead by Steve Albini and completed by Boc Weston and Todd Trainer, Shellac, presenting their album “Excellent Italian Greyhoud”. It was an energetic and powerfull show. The band played three years ago at the Primavera one of the best concerts of that year Festival. The audience seems to remember that, so the people waited anxiously to see them again, and they didn’t dissapointed the crowd.

Animal Collective

After this three crazy days of Primavera, maybe the best Primavera in years, for closing the party and return home completed, the magnific and unclassified band Animal Collective show on stage why they are one of the most interesting and exiting band of the latest years. their unexpected sound, crazy experimentation and energie captivated the Estrella Damm stage.

It was a perfect ending for a magnific Estrella Damm Primavera Sound 08 Festival. I heard that during some concerts it was raining, but i dont even notice that. The Festival didn’t let you breath going for one brilliant concert to the other.
