Kjell Varvin (Norway)

Work description:
Constructing installations for a short duration and for small spaces is comparable with chamber music: pieces for a string quartet or a jazz group, nothing very spectacular or grandiose. My visions are not for concert halls. The forms, lines and colours may linger in the memory like sounds, rhythms and intervals. I am concerned with ambiance, the space where you can breathe freely and relax. The objects that I present are here for the moment of now, then they are gone. People come together for music, talks and discussions. Individuals reflect each other even if they don’t agree, they respond and there is interaction. The melody is carried by all, there is balance with instants of joy.
Installations are at the service of the explorer who has to orient himself in order to find what he doesn’t know and has never seen. There are combinations, like in chess, that has never been observed nor tried out; like in music, where notes have never been heard together in this particular rhythm or in words, in colours. The physicists and mathematicians have never tried this unknown formula that they long for and that will open their minds to yet other possibilities. In all disciplines there are new directions to discover, new roads to take.

Chan Yuk Ling (Hong Kong)

Hong Kong born designer, graduated from School of Creative Media in City University of Hong Kong, is passionate about art creations and critiques. Yet, she now deadly frets over global warning.

Work description:
To imitate nature in universe, a poetic image was generated by chance.

Takanori Kimura (Japan)

Born in Aomori Prefecture, Japan, 1979. Kimura has been working at an advertisement production company since 2003.

Work description:
The circle, as it is, can be seen. I think,
by now, like it is, green
and then, improved the squares.

Masayuki Shimizu (Japan)

Shimizu is 23 years old, born in 1984, Tokyo. He is currently working on his activities in space design, graphic design, wall painting, and street art. He set up a design unit, Planet Market, in 2007.

Work description:
With the motif of the colours of the heart, I layered the cubes, made the layout intuitively, and expressed with a feeling of transformation and transparency.

Catherine Denvir (Italy)

Catherine Denvir studied at Chelsea School of Art, London. She now lives and works in a castle near Cortona, Tuscany, Italy. She lives with her husband who is also an artist and her son, who might well become an artist.
Together they run a school teaching 3d animation software (Maya, 3DS Max and Softimage XSI.)

Work description:
This image evolved, part planned (lots of drawing) part experimentation with 3d animation software, model building, fitting with a skeleton then posing and rendering. It is one of a number of images and ideas I have been working on over the last few years. Really should get around to animating them as they are ‘ready to go’ as it were.

Endoko (Japan)

Born in Shizuoka, 1974. Endoko currently lives in Kanagawa, Japan. The artist set up Endo Design Factory in the area of Tokyo and Shizuoka in 2003. She likes sleeping and eating sweets in her spare time, and she is good at singing children’s songs in Opera style.

Memories from childhood, views that seemed fresh, and this moment…
I wanted to simply express this chaotic world and the emotions that can go nowhere, with my honest self.
