In addition to being the DVD selector at colette in Paris, Australian writer Linlee Allen also claims her fame as the store’s ‘all-round groupie’. Having participated in the world-famous boutique’s range of events across the globe, whether it be performing in a radio show in Copenhagen, photographing guests at a party in Japan or being the first – and the last – one on the dance floor at a CD launch party in New York, she relates to the colette way of life and here, lists her favourite finds from colette for the Spring/Summer 2005 season ahead.
BACKPACK BY HERVE CHAPIER AND UNDERCOVER
Originally created for the colettemeetscommesdesgarcons concept store in Tokyo, these backpacks aren’t so functional in a way (there is no actual straps to attach them to your back), but they are, of course, a collectors item available in red, blue, grey and black. And that’s cool!
Because DVD’s are my passion and the following few are ones which no cinephile should miss! Neistat Brothers (the brothers from New York have faked their very own Directors Label DVD showcasing their short films and favourite clips to date). ‘American Movie’ (an excellent American documentary), ‘Spirits of the Dead’ (cult French/Italian tales) and ‘8 1/2’ (a Fellini masterpiece).
SYLVIAN LE HEN
Hair accessories garner much adoration in my books and these new headbands by the French designer guarantee to provoke intrigue from fellow fashionista’s. The hi-tech fabric resembles a second skin for the hair, absorbing perspiration and the colours (tomato red, turquoise) are incredibly pretty.
