UCHI LOUNGE

PLACEText: Karen Lee

Walking into Uchi Lounge is like walking into a Wong Kar-wai film: arty, fuzzy, and combinations of intensely weird colour schemes. Suitably tucked away in a dark alley off Oxford Street, this place is an oasis of indulgence in an industrial wasteland.

Tasteful green and orange walls, a bust of Bruce Lee, and a kitsch portrait of an “island beauty,” confront you; not to mention one of the waitresses, who has a mix of green, yellow and black hair.

And the food is fantastic. Japanese jetset cuisine and Vodka with cranberry juice will transport you and the rowdy crowd to a place far far away. You could be anywhere. Bring your own fantasy.

Oh and there’s a gallery upstairs.
