DESIGNART TOKYO 2025
On the first floor of the DESIGNART GALLERY, THE LIONS, developed by Daikyo Inc. in collaboration with architect Yuko Nagayama, unveils a “Relation Wall – THE LIONS 2030 PROJECT” redefining urban living, while ZEN, a parkour athlete also recognized as an artist, debuts his works “Urban Equivalence”, which were created in Los Angeles, merging motion and metropolis across 18 works. LIXIL presents MUINIMULA, a conceptual exhibition probing the emotional core of modern living through spatial design.

On the second floor, experimental showcases bring together sustainability, material innovation, and digital craft: WOHLHÜTTE + Satoshi Itasaka explore the relationship between time and trees with furniture crafted from century-old Miyazaki wood; .Garbon transforms organic matter into carbon powder to propose a new cycle of resources; and Asahi Seiki × M&T reveal an elegant incense holder marking their transition from industrial manufacturing to consumer design. Taipei and London-based Ujin Lin unveils Tokyo Nymphs, blending analog artistry with digital animation, while SUPER RAT / Kazuki Nagasawa, winner of the SaloneSatellite Award 2025, illuminates the floor with his HOUYOU-JUHI lighting series, which focuses on the essential function and form of the Trachycarpus palm. Other highlights include ZKI Design’s 3D-printed SUIGEN furniture exploring sustainable materials, 130 (OneThirty)’s radiant lamp Helio and sculptural chaise Drift, and Paper Parade’s recycled textile works upcycled from discarded advertising banners, a poetic fusion of sustainability and aesthetics.

On the third floor, global collaborations take center stage. The Institut Français introduces a vibrant mix of French designers such as Mathilde Brétillot, Claire Renard and Jean-Sébastien Blanc, while the Swedish Style × Blå Station & ACTUS partnership celebrates 25 years of Swedish design in Japan. The international scope continues with Luis Marie’s elegant Rotterdam-based designs emphasizing craftsmanship and detail; 1+1+1, a Nordic collective of Icelandic, Finnish, and Swedish studios experimenting with hybrid objects; and Roee Ben Yehuda, who gives new life to broken ceramics through leather-based “Kintsugi.” Meanwhile, Heiwa Gokin × we+ present Unseen Objects, a dialogue between metal casting and conceptual design, while Nomura Co., Ltd. and &SPACE PROJECT showcase DEBRIS, a speaker made from discarded rocket fuel tanks. The International Design Expeditions (IDE) and travel company HIS curate Ceramic & Food Route, bridging Japanese artisans with global design narratives, and Cuzen Matcha × VUILD unveil a mobile tea room and multisensory “tea gathering” experience, blending architecture, ritual, and aroma.
