MARCUS HARVEY “MYRA”

HAPPENINGText: Nicolas Roope

Myra painting by Marcus Harvey, 1995

The Royal Academy of Art opened a somewhat controversial exhibition in a self conscious bid to buy back the vitality it never had. Marcus Harvey’s, “Myra,” has created the biggest buzz.

It is a portrait of our much loved bad woman, serial killer of children in the sixties, painted oh so ironically by the hand prints of children. Academy members have resignedover the affair. It stayed and is now covered with eggs. British art is show business, although I have it from a reliable source that the real buzz is returning to the home of show biz, LA.
