Founded in Barcelona in 1995, Drap Art is a non-profit organisation which promotes the artistic use of recycling as a tool of transformation and a more reflexive way of consume by respecting the environment and taking profit of every day used objects and trash, to create and develop new forms of re-use.

The International Creative Recycling Festival will take place in the Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) from the 14th to the 17th of December 2006.

The festival will is divided in 5 modalities: Exhibitions of recycled work made with trash (at the Aparador), Public space interventios (Pati de les Dones), live performances and workshop (Hall and C3Bar) and the Christmas Market at the CCCB Hall.

This year to complete the program of the Festival, Drap Art incorporates a theoretical section, under the title of “Urban and Sustainable”, two round table discussions with experts and international artists who work in the urban space with the use of recycled objects. These discussions take place in the framework of NOW, a series of conferences organised by the CCCB.

The Drap Art festival will also count with an inedit light installation who will fill the whole open air space (Pati de les Dones) created by the radical architecture studio PATO Architectur in collaboration with the artist Julio Cesar Palacio. The installation is called Buckminster square, in homenage to the genious architect Richard Buckminster Fuller.
