YOSHIROTTEN!! is also one of the rare who could express without fail the over-mixed contemporary youth cultures.

Nice to be on SHIFT. I am YOSHIROTTEN!!
I am Pisces, blood type B, born in 1983. Based in Tokyo, I work on graphics on weekdays and surround myself by music on weekends.

In what were you absorbed as a teenager?

Looking for cool music groups, skateboarding with friends, riding a motor bike, graffitiing, making films, and sewing. I have a lot of side-stories to tell.

What was your first work that you considered as art or self expression?

15 maters large pattern with cross marks I drew on the cliff that could be seen from the local by-pass. I was sixteen then.
I simply wanted to change the landscape.

Where did you learn the most about design?

5 years at a design office called POSITRON.

What is Tokyo to you? How does it affect on your creative activities?

Tokyo is a stimulating city that never sleeps. There are friends I can see anytime and shops I can go anytime as well. Another exciting thing is that the information from all over the world gather here instantly.

Universe seems a key motif in your works. What is universe to you?

The world I want to see with my own eyes.
The contrast between the light and the darkness is extremely beautiful. Its glitter makes me excited.

What are the mediums and fields that you want to get involved in?

Graphic design and visual making in the field of products and architectures. The potential that graphic has is infinite! I would also like to try on moving images as a new means of expression.

“Fight” by Miyuki Nakajima. She gets cooler and cooler towards the end.
