The art hub in Hong Kong was in Central area, mainly on Hollywood Road, for a long time due to the history as these are the area for exporting and foreigner’s residence. Since 2015, when the metro extended to west area, the artsy scenery shifted a bit from Central to the west.香港のアートシーンにおけるハブ的な役割は、これまでセントラル（中環）エリア、特に輸出業と外国人の居留地として長い歴史をもつ、ハリウッドロードがその中心となっていた。そんな中、2015年に地下鉄が香港島西側のエリアまで延伸し、同じ年に新たなアートの拠点として、ソーホー 189 アート・レーン（以下アート・レーン）がションワンのサイインプンにほど近いションワン（上環）エリアにオープンしたことで、香港のアートを取り巻く風景が西にも広がっていった。

Due to the success of the initial four years, the gallery has relocated to a larger space at SOHO 189 Art Lane that comprises two floors totalling 2549 sq-feet, providing scope for a wide range of exhibitions and projects.ギャラリー・ユイットは、2010年にセントラルでオープンした現代美術ギャラリーで、2015年にソーホー 189 アート・レーンへ拠点を移した。２フロアからなる2549平米のスペースは、異なる展覧会を同時に開催することも可能なほどに広大だ。

Located in Hong Kong’s most up and coming art district, SOHO 189 Art Lane, Puerta Roja prides itself on having both a strong influence in the development of the local contemporary art scene as well as a growing footprint across Asia-Pacific.ラテンアメリカとスペインのアートを取り扱うプエルタ・ロジャは、香港においてとても特別なギャラリーのひとつだ。ヨーロッパ、アメリカ、中国のアート作品が中心となっている香港のアートシーンにおいて、それらの作品はとても珍しいのだ。ソーホー 189 アート・レーン内のギャラリーにはとても大きな窓があり、足を踏み入れてみたくなる気軽さがある。自然光が差し込む館内で、居心地の良さと親しみやすさを感じることができるだろう。また、ガラスファサードの前に作品を設置しており、ガラス越しに作品が自然に溶け込んでいるかのように見える。

Italy’s first ISSEY MIYAKE flagship store opened in Milan. The store’s design – “History and Future” – plays on the universal theme of innovation built on the past. Tokujin Yoshioka, the designer and artist enjoying the global spotlight since his work won the highest award at the 2017 Milano Design Awards during the recent Milano Design Week, envisioned the space.イタリア初となるイッセイ ミヤケの旗艦店がミラノにオープンした。『歴史と未来』という普遍のテーマを革新的かつ本質的に表現したストア・デザインは、先日「ミラノ・デザイン・ウィーク 2017」で発表されたインスタレーションが「ミラノ・デザイン・アワード 2017」において最高賞を受賞した事で、現地のみならず世界的に脚光を浴びているデザイナー／アーティストの吉岡徳仁が手がけた。

The Osaka “ANTIQUE ROOM 702“, which renovated the space of a former Ironworks site built in the 1950s by installing antique shops and art galleries managed by the office “DESIGN ROOM 702” which deals with the interior and architectural designs.昭和20年代に建築された元鉄工所跡地の空間をリノベーションした大阪の「アンティークルーム702」は、インテリアデザインや建築設計を手がけるオフィス「デザインルーム702」が経営する、アンティークショップとアートギャラリーを併設した施設だ。

Austrian gallerist Thaddaeus Ropac started Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in 1983 and over the years has opened galleries in Salzburg, Paris and Paris Pantin. It represents around 60 artists, holds solo and group exhibitions and participates in major art fairs around the world and even has its own publishing house. Over the past 12 years Thaddaeus has received the Officier dans L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from French President Jacques Chirac, the gold cross from the Austrian Republic and was awarded the Art and Culture prize from The Chamber of Commerce in Salzburg. When Thaddaeus found out that a specific building in London had become available he was immediately interested, and it is no surprise why.オーストリアのギャラリスト、タダエス・ロパックは1983年にギャラリー・タダエス・ロパックをスタートし、数年のうちにザルツブルク、パリ、パリ・パンタンにギャラリーをオープンした。約60名のアーティストが所属し、個展やグループ展を開催、独自の出版部門も持ちながら、世界のメジャーなアートフェアにも参加している。12年以上にわたり、タダエスはフランス大統領ジャック・シラク氏から芸術文化勲章を授与された。オーストリア共和国からはゴールド・クロスを、ザルツブルクの商工会からは文化芸術賞が授与された。ロンドンのとあるビルに入居可能だと知ると、タダエスはすぐに興味を持った。驚くべきことではあるまい。
