The Danish fashion and streetwear Wood Wood has risen to global fame in just 12 years. The brand was originally launched in 2002 by Karl-Oskar Olsen, Brians S.S. Jensen and Magnus Carstensenデンマークのストリートウエアのファッションブランド、ウッド・ウッドは12年の間に世界的なブランドへと発展した。このブランドは2002年にカール=オスカー・オルセン、ブライアン・SS・ジェンセン、マグナス・カルステンセンによって立ち上げられ、彼らの最初のオリジナルデザインのTシャツの販売によって、たちまち多くのファンを得た。イギリスの有名雑誌では、「ブランドのデザインと、アディダスとのコラボレーションしたアディカラースニーカーがこのブランドの世界のファッションシーンへの進出を後押しした」としている。
その後、初のレディースウエアコレクションのために新たにデザイナーを雇い、デンマークのデザイナーによる、アクセサリー、雑貨や雑誌を含む独自のコレクションを持つしっかりとしたファッションブランドとなった。もともとクリスタルゲードにあるヘンリック・ヴィブスコフのショップの隣にあった彼らの最初の控え目なショップから、現在のグローニゲードの特別な場所に移転したのは2011年のこと。
彼らのアイコンでもある着やすくスタイリッシュなストリートウエアやスニーカー、限定アイテムなどが人気だ。また、定期的にコムデギャルソン、オープニング・セレモニー、アディダス、ケンゾー、ナイキ、クラークスなど多くの有名ブランドとのコラボレーション商品もリリースしている。
彼らのアイテムは世界中で販売されており、コペンハーゲンに２つ、オーフス、ウィーン、モスクワ、ベルリンにはウッド・ウッド・アネックスとして限定デザインのスニーカーに特化した店もあり、全部で７つの店舗を構えている。
あえてあまり印象的ではない旗艦店は、カール=オスカー・オルセンと彼のチームによって丁寧にデザインされており、ミニマルな販売スペースにはシンプルな木製のプレートと、コンクリート、そして金属が使われている。この巧みに設計された汎用性のあるディスプレイは、季節ごと、コレクションごとの美しさを無限に引き出してくれる。
最近ではインターナショナルなDJたちによるブランド「ミューザック」も扱い始めたウッド・ウッド。これらのユニークなシリーズは、彼らのサイトや、月に一度のニュースレターでも配信されている。

Translation: Satsuki Miyanishi. To begin with they sold t-shirts of their own designs and this quickly gained a loyal following. It was an article in the british iconic magazine, The Face and a collaboration with Adidas to design a special Adicolor sneaker that catapulted the duo onto the International fashion scene.
The brand hired a designers to create their first womenswear collection and became a real fashion brand with their own collection to support the selection of Danish designers, accessories, toys and magazines from all over the world. They moved from their humble location of their first shop in Krystalgade next to another famous Danish designer, the Henrik Vibskov Boutique to the current exclusive destination in Grønnegade, Copenhagen in 2011.
Today the brand is known for their iconic, yet versatile and stylish streetwear, their sneaker designs and limited editions. First come, first served. They also regularly feature collaboration with International brands such as Commes de Garcon, Opening Ceremony, Adidas, Kenzo, Nike, Clarks and many others.
Wood Wood designs are sold worldwide and the brands has opened seven of their own stores in cities around the world, two in Copenhagen, one in Aarhus, Vienna, Moscow and Berlin. The store in Berlin also features the W.W. Annex that solely focuses on sneakers in limited editions and designs.
Their flagship store in Copenhagen is no less impressive. The space is carefully designed by Karl-Oskar Olsen and his team. The minimalist retail destination is a clean palette of wood, concrete and metal. The cleverly designed flexible displays allow for endless aesthetic configurations, depending on the season and collections.
The brand also features Muzak – an ongoing series of mixes created by a group of International DJ friends of the brand. These unique sets are released through their site and regular newsletters at least once a month.
