“Books under Hotchkiss” (BUH) was opened in 2015 nearby the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. It’s a facility of gallery and book store「素敵なものをつくっているあの人の頭の中を可視化できたら」という思いから生まれた、ギャラリーと本屋をかけ算したような施設「ブックス・アンダー・ホッチキス」（BUH）が、金沢21世紀美術館のすぐ側へ2015年にオープンした。
ここでは３ヶ月ごとにある人を取り上げ、２階のギャラリーでその人の「アウトプット」である作品や仕事を展示しながら、１階の本屋でそれらを生むきっかけとなった「インプット」である本や写真集を展示している。
アーティストが子どものころに読んだり、大切に思っている本が、作品にどんな影響を与えたのか。作品を見ながらたくさんの本を手に取り、欲しくなれば購入することもできるので、会期中に何度も訪れたくなってしまうかもしれない。
公式サイトにはBUHメンバーによる展示アーティストへのインタビュー記事が掲載され、展示作品のテーマや本のセレクトについてより詳しく知る事ができるほか、アーティストと共作したオリジナルグッズやBUH限定グッズがオンライン販売されている。

There, one person exhibits his/her works every 3 months as “output” at the gallery on the 2nd floor, and at the same time it’s possible to read and see their books and photo books as “input” at the book store on the 1st floor.
What influence did books which artists read as a child, or books which are simply valued, have on the artist’s work? This is the chance to know and pick up books which went through the artists mind during your visit to the gallery – as many times as one likes during the term.
Interviews of featured artists and creators are posted on the official site by members of BUH. They are available if you want to know more about the theme of the exhibition and selection of books. Original goods collaborated with artists and creators and BUH’s capsule goods are also available online.
