Yohji Yamamoto Exhibition

The Victoria and Albert Museum is holding an exhibition of one of the most influential and enigmatic fashion designers of the last forty years, Yohji Yamamoto. Yamamoto is a visionary designer who has made a vital contribution to fashion, challenging traditional norms of clothing with his avant-garde style. This is his first major solo show in the UK and is an installation-based retrospective showcasing over 80 women’s and menswear garments, which are most representative of his work.

Pray for Japan

Rashid Rana Exhibition

From March 30 to April 30, Lisson Gallery will exhibit works by Rashid Rana, who is widely considered to be the most prominent and original contemporary artist working in South Asia today. Through his work Rana explores constructs of media and identity, reflecting upon and critiquing the impact of globalisation worldwide whilst simultaneously exploring the local and competing influences of tradition and modernity in contemporary South Asia and Pakistan.

MMK 1991–2011: 20 Years of the Contemporary

As the 20th anniversary of the museum, MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst will exhibit its collection in an unprecedented overview exhibition entitled “MMK 1991–2011: 20 Years of the Contemporary” at 3 different venues: MMK, MMK Zollamt, and four thousand square metres in a building slated for demolition in the MainTor-Areal on the bank of the river Main in Frankfurt. It will be shown from June 19 – October 9.

THE URBAN ARTIST
