Surrounded by rich nature with warmer weather compare to other areas of Hokkaido, Shiraoi is a treasure area for food from mountains and sea. Among them Shiraoi’s wagyu beef北海道でも雪が少なく温暖な気候で、豊かな自然に恵まれた北海道白老町は、山海の幸の宝庫。なかでも、北の大地の恩恵と生産者の愛情を受けて育った黒毛和牛は、導入から50年以上の歳月を経て、北海道のトップブランドに成長している。


白老町では白老牛を食べられる専門店が多数ある。白老町の定める「のれん会」加盟店舗は、レストランカウベル、白老牛の店いわさき炭火焼レストラン牛の里天野ファミリーファームファームレストラン ウエムラの5店舗(2010年10月現在)。各店舗では牛肉・加工品などを安価で販売している。

WIth its rich and sweet taste, Shiraoi Beef has received a reputation as good as Matsuzaka Beef, and was used for dining at Hokkaido Toyako Summit 2008, which was highly acclaimed by the world VIP.

There are many restaurants in Shiraoi where you can enjoy Shiraoi Beef such as Restaurant Cowbell, Iwasaki, Ushinosato, Amano Family Farm, and Farm Restaurant Uemura. These 5 restaurants are a member of a group established by Shiraoi-cho (as of October 2010), and you can also buy beef and processed products of beef.

Besides the Shiraoi area, you can enjoy Shiraoi Beef at Hikari Maruyama in Sapporo and Brasserie Aux Amis in Tokyo.
