艺术中心於1977年成立，是一所非牟利及自负盈亏的艺术团体，多年来一直致力推广当代艺术。中心是一所配备剧场、电影院、画廊、教室、工作室、咖啡店以及办公室的综合性当代艺术中心，每月展出不同范畴的艺术节目「香港アートセンター」は、1977年に設立されて以来、アーティストの養成から文化発表のための場の提供など、創造産業への重要な役割を担い続けている。「香港アートスクール」は、香港では規模の大きな芸術教育機関Since its establishment in 1977, the Hong Kong Arts Centre has been playing a distinctive role in providing all the essentials for the creative industries, from nurturing artists, to providing office spaceとして、800人以上の受賞歴のある学生を含む3000人以上の生徒を送り出してきた。
19階あるアートセンターは、香港では、５万平方フィートのオフィスと発表スペースを持つ唯一の場所である。アートセンターは、ギャラリー、映画館といった人々が様々なアートイベントを楽しむことが出来る場所であり、地域のアートシーンの中心地でもある。

Translation: Yuka Fukuura and venue for cultural presentations. As an arts education provider, the Hong Kong Art School is the largest arts education institute in Hong Kong, which trains up over 800 award-bearing programme students and over 3,000 short course students each year.
The 19-storey Arts Centre is the only place in Hong Kong that provides about 50,000 square feet office and presentation space for the creative industries and venues for cultural events. Collaborations are frequent among these resident organizations and with the Arts Centre. There are altogether over 21 organizations in the Arts Centre. Also, there are galleries, theatres and cinemas where people can enjoy a variety of arts events, and that makes the Arts Centre the focal point in the local arts scene.

香港艺术中心透过推广表演艺术、视觉及录像艺术，以及其他全方位及终身学习的文化艺术教育课程，致力培育创意及艺术欣赏能力。中心不断鼓励本地艺术创作，每年均筹划多个多元精彩艺术节目，包括电影及录影，展览与及表演等；亦举办艺术会议、讲座、艺术节，以及公共艺术计画等。
香港艺术中心辖下的香港艺术学院是政府认可的学术机构，由一群充满热诚并拥有卓越成就的艺术家负责营运。当中的学历颁授课程集中在四个核心学术领域上，即艺术、应用艺术、媒体艺术和戏剧教育；提供的课程则包括基础文凭、高级文凭、学士及硕士学位。此外，学院亦举办短期课程及其他外展活动，大大扩阔了艺术课程的范围。学院最近获教育局批出筲箕湾校舍拓建新院校，藉此进一步推动艺术在社区的发展。
