The Serpentine Gallery Pavilion for this year has been designed by Kazuyo Sejima & Ryue Nishizawa of SANAA, opening from 12th July – 18th October.
NETTIE HORN presents a group exhibition UNFOLD by 7 artists all working with paper. They use paper as a surface for drawing, painting; explore the three dimensional qualities of paper, and questions the functionality and use of paper. The exhibition ends on August 2nd.
Boredoms frontman and visual artist EYE Yamataka is now showing new works at the Magical Artoom space in Ebisu from June 21 through July 12.
The title of this exhibition was taken from the words “Art Coming Soon” and hinges on the idea that the works presented are in progress. In progress because they are constantly formed, and reformed. These intensely visual expressions are a collage from the sounds, lines and everyday objects the artist encounters and has encountered in his somewhat prolific history. In the basement of the NADiff bookstore is a smaller exhibition of vinyl records and other music-related visual media EYE has chosen to create and recreate through a pop-charged mash up of realia. All of the records on the wall are for sale via a priced scale and can also be listened to for your visual and audio pleasure.
The Avante Guitaristival is back again by popular demand! Come to SuperDeluxe and enjoy solo, duo and trio performances from an exciting and eclectic mix of Japanese guitarists on June 28. With an expansive variety of sound and technique via the acoustic guitar, this day of first-time collaborations will amaze, shock, awe and bewilder all fans of the guitar.
An ambitious creative spirit, MWM (Matt W. Moore) has traveled to Sao Paulo for one month to prepare, from scratch, for his first South American Solo-Exhibition “Parallel Universe” at ROJO®’s artspace POP. He arrived with no art, no supplies, and no firm plan for this new series of canvas paintings. The ideas for the artworks have actualized while processing time spent absorbing Brazilian Culture, exploring this Mega-City, the vibrant colors, the exaggerated geometry, and the diverse architecture of Sao Paulo.
