In the country hill of Tohoku area, there is a place where protects and tells disappearing Japanese landscapes through art. “Kazenosawa Museum of Contemporary Art” is a complex in Kurihara-city, Miyagi, composed of a main art museum using a 200-year-old thatched house, gallery, cafe, shop, and park.東北の里山に、芸術を通して消えゆく日本の景色を守り伝える場所がある。「風の沢ミュージアム」は、宮城県栗原市に建つ、築200年程の古民家を生かした茅葺き屋根の美術館を中心として、ギャラリー、カフェ、ショップ、そして里山公園からなる複合施設だ。

Conceived in the first place to house the Musée National d’Art Moderne in 1937 in Paris, Palais de Tokyo is an space dedicated to modern and contemporary art becoming the largest center of contemporary art in Europe, following its entire rehabilitation in 2012. It became the best Paris springboard for up-and-coming artists and organically evolved into a referent in the international art scene.2002年に開館し、2012年にフランスにおける現代美術の中枢として全面リニューアルされた「パレ・ド・トーキョー」は、国内外の気鋭アーティストにとって最高のステップ・アップの場となり、パリのアート・シーンを象徴する国際的な施設へと進化を遂げた。

A clay-oven cuisine and sake restaurant themed with “Love“ and “Art“, PAVILION has opened in Nakameguro, Tokyo, in November, 2016. Enlarge-sized art pieces and commission works created by Tatsu Nishino and Kohei Nawa are made for this project to create an unique view of the space. Concept of the interior design is the 60’s culture and post modern, thus there is an unique and exquisite view mixing the two spaces.すべての食卓を作品に、最愛なる晩餐を。「LOVE」と「ART」がテーマのコンテンポラリー・フード&リカー「PAVILION」（パビリオン）が、2016年11月、中目黒高架下にオープンした。西野達と名和晃平がこのプロジェクトのために製作したコミッションワークと個性的な空間デザインは、1960年代のカルチャーと、ポストモダンがコンセプトとなっており、その２つの空間が絶妙に混ざり合うことで独特の世界観が演出されている。

Less than a decade ago, Syrian Ayyam Gallery was the first of its kind to open in the dusty, industrial area of Al Quoz. Unheard of at the time, Ayyam started a trend, with more galleries being attracted by the low rents in the unlovely, warehouse-dominated district. Now, the area has transformed into one of the city’s most trendy and quirky spots with 94 contemporary spaces comprising galleries, shops, studios and cafes.この10年で、放置されたままの倉庫街から、ドバイで最先端スポットへと姿を変えたアル・クオズのアルサーカル芸術地区。この地区はドバイの中でも低家賃で借りることができたため、シリアのアイヤーム・ギャラリーがオープンしたのを皮切りに、多くのギャラリーが集まってきた。ギャラリー以外にも現在、スタジオやショップ、ライブハウスや、飲食店など94の店舗がオープンしている。

“ASAKUSA” located in the center of Taito-ku, Asakusa is a 40-square-meter reconstructed exhibition venue for contemporary art programs. Gallery curators manage it and advance curatorial collaborations.台東区浅草の中心部に位置する「アサクサ」は、40平方メートルの一般住宅を改築したプロジェクト・スペース。ギャラリー・キュレーターが運営し、キュレーター間のコラボレーションを推進している。

“Gallery Nomart” is a gallery for contemporary art programs. It is part of a complex called “NOMART” located in Joto-ku, Osaka. In its printmaking studio, design and editing studio, artists are committed to various craft-making and expression activities that go beyond the five senses.「ギャラリーノマル」は、国内外で活躍する現代美術作家を取り扱う企画ギャラリー。大阪市城東区に位置する複合施設「ノマル」の一部であり、施設内の版画工房、デザイン・編集スタジオでは、五感を超えて多岐に渡るモノ創りと表現活動が展開されている。

There are white cubes, and then there are white cubes. Marian Goodman Gallery’s London outpost inhabits a Grade II-listed, former Victorian textile factory in Soho, London. Converted by architect David Adjaye, the gallery is a blend of the new additions of concrete floors and vaulted skylights, and of the gallery’s historic gentility – the façade has been restored to its original sandstone, the building’s internal columns remain, and fan windows polished. ソーホーエリアの一角にマリアン・グッドマンの新しいギャラリーがある。元はヴィクトリアン朝の繊維工場だったが、ロンドンを拠点に活動する若手建築家デイヴィッド・アジャイがリノベーションを手掛けた。コンクリートの床と自然光が射し込むアーチ型の天窓は見事に新装された一方で、ギャラリー正面の砂岩や内装の柱、光沢のある扇状の窓など、残された歴史的部分はかつてと同じ優雅さを漂わせる。

At the Southside of the Seine river and located on Paris’ Boulevard Raspail is the Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain.パリを愛していないひとがいるだろうか。常に注目されてきたこのヨーロッパの中心都市は、世界の最も重要なアートの拠点となっている。セーヌ川の南側にあり、パリのラスパイユ大通り沿いに位置するのが、カルティエ財団現代美術館だ。
